Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: (A) information you provide, (B) information collected automatically, and (C) information collected with your permission.
- Account information: name, username, email address.
- Customer support: content you send to us, which may include your name, username, email, and the details of your request.
- Optional content: information you enter about your knitting materials and projects (e.g., yarn notes, project notes, densities, row counts, tags, and descriptions).
- Device information: device model, OS version, language, app version, and identifiers where available and permitted.
- Usage statistics: interactions with the Service and performance metrics.
- Crash logs and diagnostics: error reports to improve reliability.
- Cookies and similar technologies (may include web beacons): to support login, maintain sessions, and remember preferences (including in embedded web content).
Location (with permission): If you grant location permission, we may collect approximate location or precise location, depending on your device settings and the permission you choose.
Photos, audio, and face data: Photos are stored locally on your device by default. If you record voice notes, recordings are handled by your device unless you enable server processing. Ostria does not perform facial recognition, does not create biometric identifiers/templates, and does not use face data for identification.
AI-Assisted Features (First-Party, Optional)
Important: Ostria does not use, integrate, or send your data to any third-party AI service (such as OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, or any other external AI provider). All AI-assisted features are powered entirely by Ostria's own first-party AI service, running exclusively on servers that are operated and controlled by the Ostria Team.
Some features (for example, photo-based capture of yarn details or automatic color matching/suggestions) use this first-party AI processing. These features are optional and only run when you choose to use them.
- What data is sent: only the specific image or text you choose to submit for that feature (for example, a yarn photo or a short text note). Nothing else is sent.
- Who the data is sent to: only Ostria's own first-party AI service, hosted on servers operated and controlled by the Ostria Team. The data is not sent to, shared with, or disclosed to any third party or any third-party AI service.
- Your permission: the upload only happens after you take an explicit action to use the feature, and the app requests your consent before any data is sent. If you do not consent or do not use the feature, no data is sent.
- No collection or retention: we do not collect, store long-term, profile, sell, or use this data to train AI models or for any purpose other than returning the result you requested.
- Immediate deletion: once processing is complete and the result is returned to your device, the uploaded image/text is deleted immediately from our servers (or as soon as technically feasible). No copy is kept.
How We Use Information
- Provide and maintain the Service (accounts, core features, backups where enabled).
- Personalize your experience (preferences, settings, feature tailoring).
